Wallacedene Fires -2021

In the aftermath of the devastating incident, the affected families found themselves stripped of all their possessions, having only the attire they were wearing at the time. This calamity hit indiscriminately, sparing neither the young nor the old. Essential belongings such as vital medications, crucial documents, and even basic educational supplies for the children were all reduced to ashes. The task ahead is daunting, with the added challenge that the City, which used to offer assistance in rebuilding efforts, has regrettably discontinued this support for fire victims.

Project summary :

Addressing this dire situation head-on,  “Heal Our Land,” stepped up to the plate. Today, we were on the ground in Wallacedene, a community deeply impacted by the tragedy. With unwavering determination, the team distributed much-needed food parcels to the 73 families who tragically lost their homes. This gesture of compassion and support goes a long way in alleviating the immediate concerns of these families.

A heartfelt acknowledgment is extended to Econo Foods for their invaluable contribution to this cause. Their swift response and generosity have ensured that the food parcels were made available promptly. In times of adversity, partnerships like these underscore the strength of unity and the capacity to make a tangible difference in the lives of those grappling to recover from the ashes of misfortune.
